The Vision of the Stonewall Brigade Museum:
Our vision is that everyone will know, understand, and appreciate the History, Heritage and Legacy of America’s Citizen Soldiers.
The Mission of the Stonewall Brigade Museum:
The mission of the 116th Infantry Regiment Foundation, Inc. is to perpetuate the history and lineage of the 116th Infantry Regiment through: Education, A Museum and Document Archive, Support of an Annual Muster, and Support of Current Unit Activities.
History of the Stonewall Brigade Museum:
The regiment was originally founded as militia in 1741, distinguished itself as the Stonewall Brigade during the Civil War, landed in the first waves on Omaha Beach in WWII, and more recently deployed to Bosnia, Iraq, Kuwait, Afghanistan, and Qatar. It is the seventh oldest military organization in America.
The foundation provides a museum for artifacts and objects of historical significance from the regiment; provides educational activities, maintains unit archives; conducts fund raising activities and supports an Annual Muster (Conference and Dinner) for members and friends of the 116th Infantry Regiment.
